Mister Fisk wins the pennant!

Cursing the curse of the Bambino, Mister Fisk was the lucky rabbit’s foot that

won the Red Sox the 2004 pennant. Yes, a rock band from Portland, Oregon did

it. Mister Fisk is four friends that got together in October 2004 to rock the

basement and run upstairs to catch the Red Sox at just the right time, to bless,

not to jinx. Any wrong song played and a ball might roll through the first

baseman’s legs, the series lost, more hearts broken.

But we played Phish, Talking Heads, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and worked up

an original with the lyric “ride on my weathered dream.” Any Red Sox fan knows

just how weathered dreams can get. So we rocked a road atlas, rode with the

peleton, and our chords were heard across the world or at least over Fenway

Park’s green monster. That’s how curses are broken and World Series won.

parties and the '86 World's Fair, before playing with Forest Grove singer/
